This post is going to be a different one than usual. I have some news and I also need your help.
As many of you know, if you’ve read my blog for any length of time, I have endometrial cancer. I have been working hard on my health for the last year so I can receive treatment without endangering my life. Finally, I have been told that I will be able to get radiation treatment starting in mid July. My introductory appointment and assessment is in a few weeks.
The treatment requires me to be away from home for 5 weeks. I will be several hours away, over the mountains in Victoria at the Cancer Lodge for the daily five weeks of treatment. There is one problem with that. My MacBook is older (2012) and heavy. On top of that, if it was stolen, I have no way of replacing it. At the moment, I am unable to work. I spend all of my time painting and sharing my art.
I am asking for your help. It’s hard to do that but all I can do is ask. If you have found my content helpful and you’d like to donate anything, I sure would appreciate your support. I’m hoping to be able to purchase an iPad so I can take it with me to the Cancer Lodge. If I take my MacBook and its stolen (there’s no way I can take it with me into the hospital for treatments), I have no way of replacing it and it has every piece of art, all my blog posts archived and my entire life as an artist on it.
I would like to purchase an iPad so I can take it to the cancer lodge. It would be about $500. It humbles me to ask for help but if you would like to support me, just buy me a Ko-fi. It’s easy, there are no user fees, your donation goes directly to my PayPal right from your PayPal. Ko-Fi doesn’t take a commission.
I will be spending most of my down time when not in treatment, painting. That’s what I do as I’m not really healthy enough to go site seeing. I’m hoping the beauty of Victoria in the Summer makes for some spectacular art. That’s what the iPad is for. Giving me a way to display pictures that I take without siting in public for hours. My health affects my mobility so painting Plein Air isn’t actually possible. I can get pretty close though if I just have a way to display the photos I take! Then paintings can be done in the cancer lodge.
Becoming A Patron
I will be keeping a log of every single donation, no matter how small. One Ko-Fi is $3. In the fall, when I’m back from treatment I will be doing several exclusive Patron giveaways for original art. They will be a heartfelt thank you to all the people who decide to become patrons and donate. I want to find a way of thanking you all, I’ll do my best. All of you generous people will be entered. Thanks so much for hearing me out. I’m both scared and thrilled that I’ll be getting treatment. Finally. Click below to donate. Thank you.
Learning: To ask for help when I need it, even when it’s hard.
Anticipating: Finally getting treatment for cancer, even though I’m scared!
Planning: To paint in a new city!
Loving: Everyone. Just everyone. I feel so grateful for those of you who have reached out. Thank you.

Jenn, I have a feeling that after 5 weeks there you will not only kick cancer’s butt, but you’ll have inspired some new artists or new appreciation for painting in other folks staying at the Lodge (because we know that not everybody will feel up to painting, but watching people paint or talk about painting…well…that works too!).

I love you. I wish I could be there with
You to laugh and giggle, to hold your hand, to
Watch you paint your beautiful magic, and have a cup of coffee with you while we discussed some of our favorite art supplies and books! You are in my heart and I will be thinking of you everyday! You will beat this my friend and I can’t help but think that
People at the lodge are about to meet a very special person! 💖❤️💖
