I have been playing with my Schmincke palette colors for the last month. When I agreed to a trade of art with my friend Sandra Strait of Life Imitates Doodles, I knew just what I wanted to paint her. Pears. Ya, I heard that, like “what’s new, Jenn”. Hehehe, I do love painting pears. Their undulating bodies leave such interesting shadows. I’m spoiled for subjects, as there are so many varieties to try to capture in paint!
I absolutely love how they turned out and I was so happy to hear that Sandra liked them too. There’s really nothing like trading art with another artist friend. It’s such fun to share with your friends, I recommend it to everyone. I thought of a great title for this one too. I try to tax my tongue-in-cheek sense of humor when I come up with titles and this one really hit the mark. It’s titled, “Barbershop Quartet”. It makes me smile every time I think of it. At some point I may make prints of this, we’ll see. I have to figure out HOW first, lol.
This painting was done using Hahnemühle Britannia Quattro paper. Luckily, Wet Paint Art carries this beautiful paper in three square sizes. I absolutely loved how this paper painted out using my Custom Schmincke colors. A review of this paper will be posted soon.

The palette I’ve been storing my paint in as I await the delivery of the first batch of palettes due in late June leaves something to be desired compared to the gorgeous tin of the 2018 custom Schmincke palette. I’ll just have to wait like everyone else. It’s hard though, ya?
I think of that cartoon with Bugs Bunny and the Abominable Snowman when I see this tin. You all must remember the line, an homage to John Steinbeck’s Of Mice And Men…
“I will hug him and squeeze him and love him and pet him and call him Goerge.”
Yep, that’s how I feel about this palette. If you want in on owning one, I suggest you buy earlier than later. It is a limited edition and they’re selling fast. No pressure but seriously, it’s SO pretty and it’s the first colorful tin palette ever in North America, what artist wouldn’t want something so gorgeous?
You can read all about the palette HERE. If you’d like to read all the articles related to this palette, go HERE. I’ll be back with more art soon. Later gator!

Pears are probably one of my favorite fruits. Have you tried asian pears? Those are divine. I like how they are so subtle but delicious but kind of look plain, ya know? There are so many exotic, bright fruits out there. Pears may not be sexy in that way, but they are classic, refreshing, and the perfect level of sweetness.
I can’t believe I just wrote a whole paragraph on pears. 🙂
I’m glad I’m not the only one loving things square. Its so rare to find wc paper in that format. I’m gonna have to hunt some down soon.

You should make prints of that painting so everyone can have one! It’s the most awesomest painting and I love it!
