Hiya. Currently, in bits and bobs, I’m working in my Nostalgie Sketchbook by Hahnemuhle. The one I have is the A4 landscape, I love that size. I haven’t been around as much as usual for a couple of good reasons. I’m working on two big projects that I can’t talk about but are so exciting, I’m giddy. I ask my family and friends to pinch me just so I don’t float away with glee. The first project rolls out in a week or two and it’s gonna be awesome. The second project needs just as much work and will debut probably in May. Anyway, because of these projects I’ve been putting my nose to the grindstone, trying to get art done to fill all the empty space while I work in secret.
As I complete these more comprehensive projects that I hope you’ll all be thrilled to read and enjoy, I’ll continue to put out reviews for products I use and love. In the coming weeks and months there’ll be reviews on the Hahnemühle Nostalgie Sketchbook, Cézanne Cold Pressed paper & Leonardo Hot Pressed paper. There’ll be new art in the Hehnemühle Greybook too. I’ll also be using and reviewing Zebra brush pens, fine liners and other great products.
So today, I’m wrapping it all up with a bow. This was inspired by Charlie O’Shields’ bow that he did on Doodlewash. If you use watercolors you should join the Doodlewash community. Charlie has started a great group, an offshoot from his World Watercolor Month project that started several years ago. I’m a member so if you join, come on over and say hi! We can be friends. :o)
The Nostalgie sketchbook took pencil crayon quite well. I found the paper slightly smoother than I usually revel in but as you can see it does allow the watercolor pencils to shine through in bright ways. Because of the nature of the bow, it wouldn’t scan no matter what I tried! Hence the photo. So far, so good. The Nostalgie seems to be an all round good multi-media book. It even takes light washes! Gotta love that. I’ll be back with a full review soon. Until then, don’t miss the GREAT SALE below.
Jackson’s Art Supply is having a huge Watercolor Sale. All their tube paints are on sale on their site. Every brand! I thought you’d want to know. I mean, that’s kinda awesome. They carry, among others, Schmincke, Winsor & Newton, Qor, Daniel Smith, Old Holland, Holbein, Art Spectrum, Blockx etc.
Congratulations to Sheri Confal, the winner of my latest giveaway. She has been contacted and has responded. Her prize will go out this weekend. Stay tuned, there’ll be another giveaway SOON!
Learning: How to successfully do negative painting. It’s pretty fun!
Wanting: To own the new innovative Schmincke watercolor wheel. Anyone have an extra $1200 hanging around??
Loving: Today I learned how to hook my new hearing aid CROS system to the tv and iPhone! It’s so darn cool. I can have music on and no one else can hear! I really am bionic. Hehehehe.

Nice work! I can see and feel the gloss on the surface of the bow.

My favorite go-to sketchbook! I love the bow, and am heading over to Jacksons to see if they carry Sennelier in 21mg sizes.
