Hi All! I haven’t done a PRICE ALERT for a long time. But I just came across a fabulous deal on Amazon for Faber-Castell Albrecht Dürer Watercolor Pencils. The price is significantly better than even Dick Blick and they’re on Prime so Prime members get free shipping! These are my goto pencil crayons. I use the both as watercolor pencils and regular pencil crayons therefore I always have the option of liquifying them with a little water. Here are some examples of how beautifully they work and their saturation of color!

I love their creaminess and how smoothly they work on every surface paper I’ve tried them on. The colorful background with the nectarines was done in Alice Hendon’s Tangle Starts book. It’s a collection of wonderful backgrounds for tangling and many other creative art projects. The other pieces are done on multiple kinds of toned paper including Hahnemühle greybook (Stash Tea), Global Art Materials Kona Grey paper (pencil), Stillman & Birn Nova (ink), Fabriano Ingress (pinecone) and Strathmore toned paper (stapler).
Ok, so all the tin sizes are on sale in Amazon so let me list them for you to make it easier. I have the 120 piece set and can’t imagine not having all the colors to choose from. I still wish they’d add a few more, lol. Also, if you’re like me, you’ll go through a few colors much faster than all the others. Faber-Castell has come up with a solution for that! Magnus watercolor pencils. They are larger with a 5.3mm lead thickness so they last longer and give less wrist fatigue. I’ll be getting the black, white, ivory and indigo plus a few of the grey Magnus so I’m not always purchasing the thinner, smaller ones. I use the indigo for most of my drop shadows (the shadow an object throws).
