YAY! Happy Easter everybody. For some of you this weekend is a religious holiday and for others its a day to eat your weight in chocolate. For me, it’s both. I look forward to family and friends being close, cooking and remembering the love we share. I confess, I also love the chocolate. This time of year is filled with anticipations of Spring and the blooming of a new season of daffodils & tulips. It’s one of my favorite times.
Here, we do a very quiet Easter. We always have. Christmas is for indulgent celebrations with a wide variety of family and friends, while Easter is for quiet contemplation and intimate gatherings to feel the love of my closest people. We’ll be cooking up some wild caught salmon, I’m a West Coast girl, ya know! This year I’ll probably buy one of those stuffed eggs full of gooey nougat, we used to call them OEUFS (french for egg). They’re similar to their mini Cadbury cousins that are wrapped in foil but the ones we buy are of high quality and larger. Larger is better ;o). I’ll be putting mine in my aunt’s freezer for indulging later in the year. I’m still dieting to cure the cancer thing I’m dealing with. It’s going ok, by the way. Working hard and an MRI is scheduled for a few months from now.
I’ve been working in several media lately. I used my Hahnemühle postcards (review here & here) and You Tangle tiles (review) and also a couple pages in my new Leda Sketchbook (US, CAN), review to come soon. I haven’t done animals for the longest time. Thank you to my friend Sandra of Life Imitates Doodles for encouraging me to try. The bunnies were such fun! I’ll have to add other animals to my repertoire, squirrels for instance.
I think I’m hoping that if I draw and paint flowers & bunnies, Spring will show up sooner than later. I do miss the warmer weather and floral splendor of our apple blossom trees. They herald spring like nothing else. When the pink petals rain down on your when the wind is up, it’s like pink tears. It’s spectacular. Let’s hope they make a showing soon. At least the bunnies are out all over Nanaimo, BC. Last week I saw four grazing along the grassy berm just under the hedgerow. THey’re so adorable! Have a great weekend everybody.
