I have a friend who’s all the way over in Aberdeenshire Scotland. Her name is Denise Allen but I call her Neesie. We’ve been friends for a good number of years although we’ve never met. I’d love to see her one day and give her a big hug. She’s awesome. She has her own chickens (I love her chooks! #fluffybuttfriday), she bakes her own sourdough bread and keeps up a huge garden full of wonderful veggies and flowers like these daffodils.
The other day she posted on Instagram that her daffodils were coming up. I immediately requested photos of said daffs so I could paint/draw them (Pen work done using Zebra Technical pens). She’s such a good friend, she didn’t just photograph her garden of daffodils but put them in a vase for me and everything. I decided I wanted them in my new Cappuccino book from Hahnemühle because it seems to be becoming the place for flowers, lol. So, without further ado, here’s Neesie’s Daffs. Thanks Neesie, Love you, girl!
What I’m Up To:
Doing: Got a new haircut! Short and sassy. With all the hormonal changes after a radical hysterectomy, my pretty, curly hair became a scraggly mess and a bunch fell out. Gotta love the irony of that, didn’t need chemo but my hair still fell out in clumps, lol. But now I don’t look sick anymore. It’ll take a year to grow it out again to shoulder length but whew, so glad I got a short cut! Thanks for the push mom, lol.
Anticipating: Making 350 swatch cards of every oil pastel stick I own. Holy heck, what a job!
Planning: A little storybook done in the new Hahnemühle Zig Zag book. I have a few on the way. Spoiler alert, the story will involve fruit. You didn’t see that coming?? LOL. The Zig Zag books are in at Wet Paint BTW.
Loving: My new hair, of course! Oh ya, and I made a cool new recipe from Danielle Walker’s book, a Pad Thai type thing using carrots and a peeler to make “noodles”. Who knew? Total yum batman!

Aww what can I say… you made me feel so special reading your lovely comment first thing this morning. Your daffs looking stunning… you’re such a talented artist. I was happy to help. Good job you didn’t request magnolia as I’m waiting and waiting for that to bloom! I’m keeping the faith though. Happy new hairdo! XX

Great job with the daffodils 🙂
She doesn’t live that far from me, just over an hour (depending on how fast you drive) the daffs here are just starting to come up, some places are getting pretty yellow 🙂
