I was thrilled when Huion contacted me to see if I’d like to review one of their drawing tablets. I had previously done a little research on tablets and found that Huion’s reputation was stellar, they are well known to be one of the best tablet makers at a very reasonable price. I purchased the DWH69 pen tablet, here’s all it’s cool stats:

The Pen Tablet was easy to install on my computer, I have a MacBook Pro. I just plugged in the disk and followed the instructions. Once the drivers were installed I went and found a paint program. Firstly, I wanted one that didn’t cost me anything. I wanted to start simple, figure out what I might want in the future then buy with knowledge and confidence. I found that many people recommend these three:
I downloaded Mischief and that’s the paint program I used in the video below. I was easy to use and the tablet worked perfectly with it.
The wireless pen is light in the hand and the two buttons on it are out of the way enough that one doesn’t touch them inadvertently. These two buttons can be programmed to do special things, just like the buttons on a mouse. They are programmed using the Tablet Driver Panel. The little Tablet Driver Panel interface is installed to your computer from the disk when you install the drivers. This screen also lets you adjust the pressure sensitivity of the pen. The pen has 2048 levels of sensitivity and as the video shows, this allows for variability in your line and it’s width and color saturation.
The tablet surface is quite smooth with just enough tooth so the pen nib doesn’t slide, uncontrolled, over the surface. It’s much like hot pressed watercolor paper in it’s slight texture. I found the space to draw more than adequate, the working surface is 6″ x 9″. The size of the full tablet is 9″(vertical) x 14″(horizontal). There are eight soft keys that help with shortcuts. I didn’t find that I used them, it was easier to use my MacBook trackpad.
One of the most convenient features of this pen tablet is that it can be turned 180 º so the soft keys can be on the right instead of the left. This makes the tablet easier to use for left handed people. There is a checkbox under Advanced Settings in the Tablet Driver Panel window that allows you to tell the tablet that you are left handed and want to use the tablet “upside down”.
Overall I found this pen tablet incredibly easy to learn. With a little practice I can become an expert at using it for a myriad of things. Thank you to Huion for asking me to review their DWH69 pen tablet. I look forward to learning to draw on it.

I love my Huion tablet, hated my wacom. I just prefer the surface to draw on and def can’t beat the price. the only problem I’ve had is my pen doesn’t keep charge for as long as they say but I just leave it plugged in now when drawing on the tablet
